Thor Einar Andersen

Thor Einar Andersen (f. 1960) er ansatt som professor i 60 % stilling ved Senter for idrettsskadeforskning, Institutt for Idrettsmedisinske fag. Han er leder for fotballmedisinske prosjekter. Andersen var leder for Sports Medicine Department ved Aspetar Orthopedic & Sports Medicine Hospital i Qatar i perioden 1. november 2019 til 1. mars 2021. Han disputerte til den medisinske doktorgraden i mars 2005 ved Medisinsk Fakultet, Universitetet i Oslo. Andersen er medisinsk leder, overlege og spesialist i fysikalsk medisin og rehabilitering ved Idrettens helsesenter/NFF, og er medisinsk fagansvarlig i Norges Fotballforbund. Han har siden 2020 vært medlem av FIFA Medical Scientific Advisory Board. Siden sesongen 2000 har Andersen etablert et elektronisk system for løpende registrering av skader i Eliteserien for herrer. Andersen deltar nå i et nystartet prosjekt med skade,- sykdoms og belastningsovervåking av alle spillerne/lagene i Toppserien med formål å se på skademønster i norsk elite kvinnefotball med særlig fokus på hamstrings- og lyskeskader, men også trenings- og kampbelastningens betydning for skader, sykdom og prestasjon. Han har ledet et nylig avsluttet prosjekt som har sett på sammenhengen mellom skader/helseplager og belastningsstyring i norsk junior elitefotball for både jenter og gutter. Han leder også et annet prosjekt som kritisk vurderer metoder og statistiske analyser som brukes i studier på sammenhengen mellom treningsbelastning og skader.
Høsten 2022 startet han opp et prosjekt som ser på nevrodegenerativ sykdom hos tidligere kvinnelige landslagsspillere. I samarbeid med Idrettens helsesenter er han ansvarlig for kliniske prosjekter knyttet til hofte- og lyskeskader og hodeskader hos unge idrettsutøvere.
Videre har Andersen flere internasjonale samarbeidsprosjekter blant annet med Oxford University, England, Amsterdam UMC, University Medical Centers, The Netherlands, Edinburgh Napier University, Skottland, Aspetar Orthopaedic & Sports Medicine Hospital i Qatar, FIFPro, Internasjonale profesjonelle fotballspillerforeningen, Arsenal FC and FC Barcelona.
