Monica Holmsve (b. 1986) is a medical doctor who was appointed as a 100% research fellow and PhD student at the Institute of Sports Medicine, The Norwegian school of sport sciences (NIH), as of September 1st 2023. Monicas work will be linked to the project "Respiratory health in former elite athletes - are they still out of breath," which aims to investigate general health and, in particular, respiratory health among former elite athletes.
The project compares results from pulmonary physiological examinations conducted during the athletes' active careers with test results collected now, after their careers have ended. This will help to examine the long-term consequences of elite athletic participation on lung function.
