Three former PhD-candidates from the Oslo Sports Trauma Researcher Center together with their mentor Professor Lars Engebretsen are present at the 3rd Summer Youth Olympic Games in Buenos Aires in order to take care of the young athletes´ health.
With 3 members of the Camel Society (= former PhD students) and their mentor professor Lars Engebretsen, the OSTRC is well represented at the 3rd Summer Youth Olympic Games in Buenos Aires meeting 4.000 young elite athletes in 300 high adrenaline sessions.
New sports are coming to the Olympics. New risks ????
We don't know yet, but we will get answers, says the head of the daily injury & illness monitoring, Kathrin Steffen.
While Kathrin is in charge of the IOC injury & illness surveillance, the first ever in Youth Summer Games, accompanied by Torbjørn Soligard and Lars from the IOC Med & Science Department and an international team, John Bjørneboe is the Chief Medical Officer for the Norwegian team. The IOC and NOCs get full support from a well organised Argentine medical service.
