Sophie har en doktorgrad fra Senter for idrettsskadeforskning ved Norges idrettshøgskole (NIH), der hun i perioden 2012-2018 har jobbet med doktorgradsprosjektet "Hodeskader hos FIS World Cup alpinister, freestylekjørere og snowboardere".
Sophie har i tillegg hatt ansvar for årlig skaderegistrering av FIS World Cup utøvere gjennom FIS Injury Surveillance System.
Sophie ble utdannet fysioterapeut ved Fontys University, Eindhoven, Nederland (2003), og har en mastergrad i idrettsfysioterapi fra NIH (2011). Som fysioterapeut har hun variert erfaring, blant annet fra rehabilitering og privat praksis.
